Mahayuti alliance leaders, led by Chandrashekhar Bawankule, assert political strength and unity across Maharashtra including Nagpur, as parties prepare coordinated strategies for upcoming civic and local body polls.
Nagpur | December 17, 2025:The Mahayuti alliance of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) and Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction) has underlined its political strength across Maharashtra, including key urban centres like Nagpur, as leaders gear up for imminent local body and municipal elections. According to senior party leader and Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, the alliance remains cohesive and is preparing coordinated strategies to consolidate its presence across local governance platforms.
Speaking from Nagpur, Bawankule expressed confidence that the Mahayuti will maintain its dominance in the coming elections, pointing to the backing the alliance enjoys among voters across the state’s civic bodies, including Nagpur Municipal Corporation. He indicated that the alliance is ready to contest elections in a unified manner, aiming to secure widespread support by leveraging its strength in both urban and rural areas.
The assertion of unity comes as the Mahayuti prepares to contest elections for municipal corporations and zilla parishads jointly under a single banner. Bawankule stressed that district-level coordination among BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP leaders is being strengthened to ensure seamless campaigning and a consolidated vote share. He also noted that discussions on seat sharing and electoral strategy have been prioritised to avoid internal conflict and present a strong front against rival political formations.

In Nagpur, the focus on defending and expanding Mahayuti’s local political footprint follows the alliance’s strong performance in the previous Maharashtra Assembly polls, where candidates aligned with the coalition secured significant victories and demonstrated broad voter appeal across different regions.
The sustained emphasis on alliance cohesion appears to be a response to criticism from opposition parties, who have attempted to portray fissures within Mahayuti ranks. Despite such claims, leaders like Bawankule have repeatedly reaffirmed that the alliance’s political narrative is driven by development, stability and governance continuity, and that internal differences if any will be resolved through leadership dialogue rather than public discord.
Political observers note that the Mahayuti’s proactive strategy including joint planning for major civic polls such as those in Mumbai, Nagpur and other urban centres could be instrumental in influencing electoral outcomes, especially where opposition parties are contesting independently or with less unified coalitions.
The alliance’s plans to coordinate closely on campaign messaging and seat distributions reflect an attempt to maintain momentum from past electoral successes while countering opposition narratives ahead of a competitive local election season.
