A 23-year-old man was chased by four assailants, brutally attacked with stones and sharp weapons in Wadgaon Budruk (Pune) and died in hospital; police launch manhunt.
Pune | November18,2025: A chilling incident in Pune has once again raised concerns over escalating violence among youth in the suburbs. On Monday afternoon, a 23-year-old man identified as Taukir Shaikh, a resident of Kondhwa, was brutally murdered in the parking area of a residential complex in the Tukainagar area of Wadgaon Budruk, near Sinhagad Road. The attack was carried out by four men who chased and assaulted Shaikh, resulting in his death.
According to police sources, Shaikh had visited the area with a friend around 3 pm when the four assailants, armed with sharp weapons, sprang upon him. He attempted to flee on his motorcycle but was overtaken near the parking lot of the society. The men first pelted heavy stones at him — knocking him down — and then proceeded to inflict multiple sharp-weapon injuries. Despite his efforts to escape again, he collapsed and later died after being rushed to hospital.
Senior Inspector Dilip Dhaingade of the Sinhagad Road Police Station confirmed that Shaikh had prior arrests in several cases and that investigators are probing a possible motive relating to longstanding personal enmity. However, the exact trigger remains under inquiry. The four attackers are currently at large and a manhunt is underway.
The brutality and daylight timing of the attack have deeply disturbed local residents. Many in the surrounding residential society reported hearing commotion and called police promptly, yet the violence escalated too fast. The incident has reignited debate around rising youth gang violence in Pune’s suburban zones, especially along the Sinhagad Road corridor where encroachment, errant bike movement and shadowy parking lots have been longstanding safety concerns.
For law-enforcement, this case underscores the urgent need for stronger preventive patrols, safer public parking spaces, better CCTV coverage and community-police engagement to detect brewing disputes before they turn lethal. Moreover, the involvement of young adults with established criminal records—and possibly minors among the assailants, as in other recent cases—points to the persistence of gang-culture infiltration in suburbs.
