Married woman runs away with lover, husband registers missing‑person complaint; children left stranded

In Raebareli, a woman named Manisha fled with her lover, leaving behind four children. Her husband filed a police complaint when she went missing, prompting a search by local authorities.

Raebareli (Uttar Pradesh)09 December 2025: In a surprising turn of events in Uttar Pradesh’s Raebareli district, a woman identified as Manisha mother of four has eloped with her boyfriend, leaving her family and spouse behind. The incident triggered panic in the village, after her husband, Ghanshyam, formally lodged a missing‑person complaint with the local police station.

According to the complaint, Manisha disappeared without prior notice, taking no belongings and leaving the children behind. Ghanshyam immediately approached police, urging a swift search for his wife. Villagers and relatives also attempted to persuade her to return, but she remained unreachable

Local law enforcement launched a search operation and soon located Manisha and her lover in a different locality. The couple’s sudden departure has left the community in shock  many villagers described the act as a betrayal of family and social trust. Meanwhile, the children’s welfare has become a major concern, with relatives scrambling to ensure their safety and emotional stability.

The case has reignited debates over love, social norms, and family responsibilities in rural India. While some argue individuals must have the freedom to choose their partners, others warn against impulsive decisions that disrupt family structures and hurt innocent third parties in this case, the children.

Police are yet to reveal whether charges will be filed under any custodial or child‑welfare laws. They have urged the couple to surrender and stressed the importance of ensuring the minors’ safety. As the investigation continues, the community remains divided  some calling for stern action, others urging mediation and resolution.
