Matheran Mini-Train Resumes From November 6 After Monsoon Break

The heritage narrow-gauge toy train between Neral and Matheran resumes service from November 6, with two daily trips in each direction and additional weekend shuttles

Matheran | November 07, 2025: The beloved Neral-Matheran toy train service is back in operation from November 6, after being suspended during the monsoon season.

According to Central Railway, the narrow-gauge train will run twice daily from Neral to Matheran. Departures from Neral will be at 8:50 AM and 10:25 AM, arriving at Matheran at 11:30 AM and 1:05 PM respectively. The return trips from Matheran back to Neral are scheduled for 2:45 PM and 4:00 PM, reaching within the early evening.

The train uses six-coach formations that include multiple class options.In addition to the main route, shuttle services between Aman Lodge and Matheran will run regularly throughout the day, with extra services on weekends.

The service had been suspended from June through October due to monsoon-related track damage and safety concerns.Officials say the restoration aims to support tourism and provide safer access for visitors to the hill station.
