MCOCA Accused Arrested in Rahatani; Crime Branch Unit-4 Lays Swift Trap

A 23-year-old man wanted in a serious organised crime case was arrested by Pune Crime Branch after a tip-off. The accused, booked under MCOCA and Arms Act provisions, was handed over to Chatushrungi Police
Pune | 27 February, 2026: Acting on specific intelligence, the Unit-4 team of the Crime Branch, Pune City, apprehended a wanted accused linked to a serious offence registered under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act. The arrest was made on February 25 during routine patrolling aimed at tracing absconding suspects involved in grave crimes.
Police constables Ajay Gaikwad, Subhash Avhad and Vaibhav Ranpise received information from a trusted source that the accused, identified as Nana alias Kartik Balu Barmukh, 23, would be arriving near Fortune Hospital, Siddhivinayak Colony, Nakate Vasti in Rahatani. He was reportedly wearing a green T-shirt and blue jeans.

Based on the tip-off, the team swiftly laid a trap at the specified location and detained the suspect. During questioning, he revealed his residence as Indira Vasahat, Valmiki Chowk, Ganeshkhind Road, Aundh.
Verification with Chatushrungi Police Station confirmed that Barmukh was wanted in Crime Register No. 253/2025 under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Arms Act, the Maharashtra Police Act, and relevant provisions of the MCOCA.
Following due procedure, the accused was handed over to Chatushrungi Police Station for further legal action. The operation was conducted under the guidance of senior officers of the Pune City Crime Branch.
