Nearly 8 million people across all 50 US states took to the streets in a massive “No Kings Rally” against President Donald Trump, protesting inflation, immigration crackdowns and the Iran conflict, escalating pressure on the White House.
Washington | March 26, 2026: A wave of large-scale protests swept across the United States on Saturday as millions of citizens rallied against President Donald Trump’s administration, accusing it of worsening economic hardship and concentrating power among the wealthy. The demonstrations, held under the banner of the “No Kings Rally,” reportedly drew nearly 8 million participants across all 50 states, marking one of the most widespread nationwide mobilisations in recent years.

Protest organisers claimed rallies were conducted at more than 3,300 locations, with crowds gathering in major cities as well as smaller towns. Demonstrators raised slogans against what they described as authoritarian governance and demanded accountability over the government’s handling of rising inflation, a weakening dollar, and escalating geopolitical tensions. Anger has been fuelled by the economic impact of the ongoing conflict involving Iran, which protesters say has contributed to soaring prices and increased financial strain on ordinary Americans. Many participants also criticised strict immigration enforcement measures, calling them harsh and divisive.
During the rallies, placards and banners targeting Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance were prominently displayed, with sections of protesters openly demanding the removal of both leaders from office. The protests have added to mounting political pressure on the White House, already facing growing scrutiny over domestic economic policies. Responding to the demonstrations, Trump defended his administration’s decisions, stating that his policies were aimed at strengthening the nation. He dismissed accusations of authoritarianism, insisting he had never claimed to be a “king” and calling the allegations baseless.

The unrest was not limited to the United States. Reports indicated that solidarity protests were also held in several international cities including Paris, London and Lisbon, where demonstrators echoed calls for political change in Washington. With public frustration rising and large-scale rallies continuing to gain momentum, analysts believe the protests could significantly shape the political climate in the coming months.
