MSEDCL Launches WhatsApp Services for Consumers, Enables Bill Payment and Complaints on Single Platform
MSEDCL has rolled out WhatsApp-based services for over 3.12 crore consumers, allowing access to electricity bills, payments, complaints, and other services through a single, paperless digital platform
Pune | 26 March, 2026: In a move aimed at simplifying consumer services and promoting digital access, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has officially introduced its services on WhatsApp. The initiative allows users to access a range of electricity-related services, including bill viewing, payments, and complaint registration, all in one place.

The service has been made available to more than 3.12 crore electricity consumers across the state, including nearly 39 lakh users in the Pune region, starting March 13. With this rollout, customers no longer need to rely on physical copies of electricity bills, as all essential information can now be accessed digitally.

According to Chief Engineer Sunil Kakade, the initiative is part of a broader push towards paperless operations. He urged consumers to shift to digital services and reduce dependency on printed bills, highlighting both convenience and environmental benefits. To access the service, users can send a “Hi” message to the official number 9167777791, select their preferred language, and choose from available options. Consumers have been advised to verify the authenticity of the account by checking the ‘blue tick’ next to the company name.
The platform offers multiple features, including bill payment via debit cards or UPI, downloading e-bills and receipts, registering complaints related to outages or billing issues, tracking new connection requests, and opting for the ‘Go Green’ initiative. An interactive chatbot is also available to provide instant assistance.

This step is expected to streamline consumer interaction and enhance accessibility to essential electricity services.
