A Mumbai youth was arrested in Chandrapur for possessing 185 grams of MD (Mephedrone) drugs worth ₹9.25 lakh, marking a significant drug bust by the local crime branch.

In a significant drug bust, the Chandrapur Local Crime Branch (LCB) arrested a 24-year-old youth from Mumbai for possessing 185 grams of Mephedrone (MD), a banned narcotic substance. The arrest took place on the Nagpur-Chandrapur National Highway, following a tip-off received by the police.

The accused, identified as Wasim Imdad Khan from Mumbai, was intercepted while traveling in a car. Upon searching the vehicle, officers found the MD drug powder concealed inside. The estimated market value of the seized drugs is approximately ₹9.25 lakh. In addition to the narcotics, the police also confiscated cash, a mobile phone, and the car, bringing the total value of the seized items to ₹35.07 lakh.

Wasim Khan has been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The Chandrapur LCB is conducting further investigations to ascertain the source and intended destination of the drugs, as well as to identify any potential accomplices involved in the trafficking network.

This arrest underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies in Maharashtra to combat the growing menace of drug trafficking and abuse. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to taking stringent action against individuals and networks involved in the illegal drug trade.
