Mukundwadi (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra), February 22, 2026: A tragic accident occurred on Saturday morning when a municipal sanitation worker died after being electrocuted while removing an unauthorized hoarding near a temple in Mukundwadi, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Another colleague was severely injured and is currently undergoing treatment, officials said.
The incident took place around 7:30 am when a municipal team, acting under orders to clear illegal signage, was dismantling a hoarding erected on the temple premises. During the removal process, the metal frame came into contact with a high-tension power line, causing a fatal electric shock.
The deceased has been identified as Amol Dinkar Jadhav (27), a sanitation worker from Mukundwadi. His colleague, Ravindra Randhir Riddlon (38), was seriously burned in the incident and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The tragedy has sparked grief and anger among municipal workers and residents. Family members are demanding strict action against those responsible for illegally installing the hoarding and the lapse in safety precautions. Police have registered an unintentional death case and started a formal investigation, including action against supervisors and the parties who put up the unauthorized structure.
The local civic administration has assured the family of compensation under the employee insurance scheme and financial aid following the death. Municipal officials emphasized that enforcement actions will continue, but with reinforced safety measures to prevent such accidents in future
