Muradabad Man Accused of Marrying Three Women and Planning a Fourth; Third Wife Files Police Complaint
Muradabad
A man who allegedly married three women and began planning a fourth wedding is now under police investigation after his third wife accused him of deception, assault and threats.
A man from Muradabad in Uttar Pradesh has come under police investigation after his third wife filed a complaint accusing him of hiding multiple marriages and preparing to marry for a fourth time. The complaint was lodged by Sayeeda, who says she married the man, Rajabul, believing he was single. Only after the wedding did she discover that he had already been married twice before and had two children from one of those marriages.
MORADABAD, 16 November 2025 – According to the FIR filed at Majhola Police Station, Sayeeda said she learned the truth through relatives and neighbours, and when she confronted Rajabul, he allegedly assaulted her. She also stated that he continued maintaining relationships with his earlier wives and was secretly planning a fourth marriage. When she objected, she claims she was threatened and told to “accept the situation quietly.”
Police say that Rajabul first married a Hindu woman, then married another woman with whom he has two sons. After disputes in those relationships, he married Sayeeda, presenting himself as unmarried. The complaint says he later began visiting another woman and making arrangements for yet another marriage. The situation escalated when Sayeeda realised he was preparing for it without formally ending any of his existing marriages.
Officers have begun an inquiry and are verifying all marriage documents and witness statements. They say they are also checking whether the earlier marriages were legally valid and whether the man violated provisions relating to deception, bigamy and domestic violence. Investigators will question his previous wives to understand the full scale of the allegations and determine whether similar complaints were made earlier.
The case has drawn attention in the locality, with residents saying the man’s pattern of behaviour had been an open secret but no formal action was taken until now. Women’s organisations in the area have expressed concern and emphasised that such cases highlight the need for stronger action against deception in marriage and domestic abuse. They have urged authorities to ensure that the complainant receives protection, as she has alleged threats and physical assault.
Police officials say they will also keep track of whether any preparations for the fourth marriage are ongoing and intervene if necessary. The investigation continues as officers gather documentation, speak to all parties involved and determine appropriate charges based on the findings.
