The Nanded division of South Central Railway successfully managed around 2.76 lakh passengers in a single day after Diwali, despite heavy crowding. Efficient planning eased movement and ensured smooth travel.
Nanded | 30 October ,2025: The post-Diwali travel surge presented a major logistical challenge for the South Central Railway’s Nanded division, yet the railway authorities managed to handle a staggering 2.76 lakh passengers in one day.
According to railway sources, on the scheduled peak travel day, more than 71,000 passengers were recorded at one station alone, contributing to the high figure. The volume of travellers came in the wake of the festival, as many passengers returned home after holiday visits.
To accommodate the surge, the SCR Nanded division had undertaken intensive crowd-management measures. These included deploying additional staff for ticketing checks, arranging quick pass-through lanes, and creating holding areas to avoid platform overcrowding. The smooth operation has been credited to early planning and coordinated efforts among commercial, security and operational teams.
Railway officials said that no major disruptions were reported: trains ran largely on time, and passenger grievances remained minimal. “Our priority was to manage the peak rush without compromising safety or service,” said the division’s spokesperson.
As the festive travel season continues, the division has urged passengers to book tickets in advance, arrive early at stations and follow boarding instructions. The success of this operation also underscores the importance of festival-specific resource allocation within Indian Railways.
