Nashik police arrest fugitive POCSO accused from Gangapur area after targeted crime branch action

Gangapur police and Nashik crime branch arrested a 26-year-old POCSO case fugitive, bolstering efforts to crack down on child sexual offence suspects and reinforce legal action across the district.

Nashik, December 20 2025:Nashik police have arrested a man wanted in a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act case lodged at the Gangapur police station, officials said. The operation was carried out by Unit-1 of the Nashik Crime Branch in coordination with Gangapur police after the suspect had been evading arrest for some time. The accused, identified as 26-year-old Rohan Bhadrage, resident of Ambedkar Nagar in Nashik Road, was taken into custody following a focused investigation and tracking effort by the team.

Authorities registered the original complaint under provisions of the POCSO Act, which was later transferred to the Gangapur police station for further probe. Bhadrage had reportedly remained out of reach of law enforcement until the Crime Branch and local police intensified their search this week, leading to his arrest without incident.

Police said the arrest reflects sustained pressure by investigative teams to ensure fugitives in serious cases face the law. The POCSO Act is a stringent statute in India designed to protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation, carrying severe penalties for convicted offenders. Although details of the alleged crime have been kept out of the public domain due to legal sensitivity and protections for minors, officers confirmed that the case remains under active investigation.
