Nashik | 16 December 2025: In a concerning case from Takhe Devgaon, Trimbakeshwar taluka, Nashik, a tribal family has given six sons and five daughters for adoption despite owning 20 acres of land. Authorities report that chronic addiction and an inability to manage daily responsibilities left the parents struggling to care for their children.

The mother reportedly initiated the decision to give the children to known and trusted families, seeking a better future for them while relieving herself and her husband from the burdens of care. Local sources indicate that the family’s neglect was compounded by persistent poverty and lack of consistent work.
The case was reviewed by the Women and Child Welfare Committee, which conducted an assessment of the family’s situation and submitted a detailed report to the District Collector’s office. The report corroborates that despite owning land, the household’s financial and social circumstances made providing adequate care for the children impossible.
Officials have emphasised the importance of legal adoption procedures and proper follow-up to ensure the children’s safety and welfare. The case has drawn attention to challenges in tribal areas, including substance abuse, economic hardship, and the need for strengthened support mechanisms for vulnerable families. This incident has highlighted the urgent need for community-based interventions and enhanced monitoring by child welfare authorities to prevent neglect and ensure that children receive proper care and opportunities for education and development.
