Maharashtra cabinet approves internal ring road development for Simhastha Kumbh Mela in Nashik. The project includes land acquisition and aims to finish by June 2027.

Nashik | November 07, 2025: Nashik Municipal Corporation’s infrastructure push for the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela has entered a new phase. The state cabinet’s infrastructure-committee has approved the development of an internal ring road (external bypass / ring-road) involving significant land acquisition and construction work.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed that the project be completed by June 2027 to ensure readiness ahead of Kumbh-Mela-related pilgrim traffic.

The ring road is designed to ease the movement of devotees entering Nashik through multiple routes. It forms part of a larger road development plan that includes widening, resurfacing, and constructing missing links across existing ring roads to manage surges in traffic volume.

Land acquisition is a central component of the scheme. The project is being driven under the aegis of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela Authority, which is liaising with civic planners to procure required parcels of land.

Officials say the plan involves both internal road network upgrades as well as possibly outer bypasses, and includes widening stretches where needed, compensating landowners (in some cases through TDR Transfer of Development Rights).

Once complete, the ring road will serve as a major traffic artery for Nashik, especially during Kumbh periods, reducing congestion, improving road access to pilgrimage sites, and helping with public safety.
