Health inspectors found worms in bread loaves at Ambika Sweets and Eden Bakery during hygiene checks. Serious violations noted — bakery operations and worker conduct under fire.

Navi Mumbai | October 6, 2025: A food safety alarm was raised in Navi Mumbai after surprise inspections revealed shocking hygiene violations at two bakeries. Ambika Sweets and Eden Bakery were found selling worm-infested bread loaves, leading local residents and authorities to demand strict action.

The issue came to light following a complaint from a local family who found worms in a loaf purchased from Ambika Sweets in Belapur sector 10. The complaint was forwarded to activists and then to the health department. A joint inspection team visited Eden Bakery in Seawoods (Sector 36, Karave village) and unraveled multiple violations.

Inspectors observed large scale uncleanliness, foul odors, lack of hygiene practices, and unauthorized workers. Some workers were found chewing gutkha, smoking, or using tobacco inside baking premises. Licensing and mandated hygiene protocols were blatantly ignored.

Due to the severity, youth wing members of the local political outfit instructed the bakery to shut operations immediately. Legal, health, and administrative action was threatened. A prominent leader declared that anyone playing with citizens’ health would face harsh consequences.

This case has triggered public outrage, especially concerning food safety in urban localities. Citizens are urged to report similar violations without delay. Authorities must act swiftly to ensure food vendors comply with mandatory hygiene standards — there can be no compromise on health.
