Netherlands secured their first victory of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, outclassing Namibia by seven wickets in Delhi with an all‑round performance led by Bas de Leede.

New Delhi, February 11, 2026:In a commanding performance at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday, the Netherlands cricket team clinched a convincing seven‑wicket win over Namibia in their Group A match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, marking their first triumph in the tournament.

Put in to bat first after winning the toss, Namibia posted a competitive total of 156 for eight in their allotted 20 overs. The Namibian innings featured a steady 42 from Jan Nicol Loftie‑Eaton and valuable contributions from Jan Frylinck, but the side lacked late momentum to set a more imposing target.

The Dutch bowling attack, spearheaded by Bas de Leede and Logan van Beek, regularly pierced the Namibian lineup, keeping the scoring in check and picking up crucial wickets at key intervals. De Leede finished with figures of 2 for 20, while Van Beek also claimed two scalps, helping the Netherlands restrict Namibia to a modest total.Chasing 157 for victory, Netherlands got off to a brisk start with bold hitting from opener Michael Levitt. The game‑changing moment came through an impressive 70‑run partnership for the third wicket between De Leede and Colin Ackermann, the latter scoring 32. De Leede remained unbeaten on 72 off 48 balls, striking five fours and four sixes, guiding his side to the target with 12 balls to spare.

Captain Scott Edwards played a steady hand, finishing 18 not out, as the Dutch successfully negotiated the mid‑innings pressure and kept pace with the asking rate throughout. De Leede’s all‑around effort earned him the Player of the Match award and lifted the Netherlands’ spirits after an earlier narrow defeat to Pakistan in the competition.

The victory places the Netherlands firmly in contention within Group A and boosts their confidence moving forward in the tournament, as they look to build momentum in the Super Eight stages.
