New CCTV footage from a Jamkhed lodge shows a former BJP corporator entering the room of Dipali Patil shortly before she was found dead, leading to his arrest in an abetment to suicide case.

Jamkhed, Ahilyanagar, December 06, 2025 – Fresh CCTV footage has become crucial evidence in the death of dancer Dipali Patil, who was found dead inside a lodge room in Jamkhed. Police have confirmed that former BJP corporator Sandeep Gaikwad was captured entering the same room shortly after Dipali checked in. This new detail has led investigators to treat the case as abetment to suicide, and Gaikwad has now been arrested for questioning.

Dipali had arrived at the lodge around noon. According to police sources, she checked in alone, but minutes later Gaikwad also entered the premises and went directly to her room. The footage shows him staying inside for a considerable time before leaving. Investigators say this sequence is consistent with the family’s allegation that Dipali was being pressured and harassed.

Family members told police that Gaikwad had been allegedly forcing Dipali to continue a relationship and demanding marriage, despite being married himself. Relatives claim that Dipali repeatedly refused, but the harassment continued, leaving her frightened and disturbed. The family has alleged that repeated pressure pushed her toward taking her own life.

Police teams are now analysing more CCTV angles from the lodge, checking visitor logs and questioning the staff present at the time. The auto-rickshaw driver who brought Dipali there is also being questioned to verify the timeline. Officers say they are examining call records and messages to understand the nature of communication between Dipali and Gaikwad in the days leading up to her death.

Local residents and women’s groups have demanded a transparent investigation, saying political influence should not affect the case. Many believe the CCTV footage is a turning point, offering objective visual proof rather than just verbal allegations. Public reactions across Ahmednagar district show a growing call for stricter action in harassment cases and stronger legal protection for women.

Police are currently awaiting the post-mortem report, which will help determine whether Dipali’s death was strictly a case of suicide or if there were circumstances that suggest something more. Depending on what emerges from forensic findings and electronic evidence, the investigation may expand further or lead to additional charges.

The incident has also reopened discussions about harassment faced by women who work in cultural fields, and how power dynamics can make them vulnerable. Many online users have pointed out that Dipali’s case reflects a larger issue where complaints of pressure or coercion often go unnoticed until tragedy occurs.

For now, the investigation continues under the supervision of senior officers. Police have urged anyone with relevant information from the lodge or local area to come forward. The authorities say the goal is to uncover the full truth and ensure justice, regardless of political affiliation or social standing.
