PCMC corporator calls for united political effort to ensure consistent daily water supply in Pimpri-Chinchwad, stressing it as a basic right of citizens.

Pune | 23 February, 2026- A Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) corporator has appealed to leaders across all political parties to come together to resolve the long-standing issue of irregular water supply in the city. During a recent meeting, the corporator emphasized that daily access to clean water is a fundamental right and urged that political differences should not hinder efforts to secure a reliable supply for residents.

Residents in several localities of Pimpri-Chinchwad continue to experience intermittent water supply, with some areas receiving water only on alternate days or for limited hours. This has forced many households to rely on storage tanks or private water tankers to meet daily needs, increasing costs and inconveniences. The corporator highlighted that inconsistent water availability affects both household routines and the overall quality of life for thousands of citizens.

In his address, the corporator called on representatives from both ruling and opposition benches to set aside party divisions and work collaboratively on sustainable solutions for daily water supply. He stressed the need for long-term planning that ensures equitable distribution and access to potable water throughout the PCMC area.

Urban planning experts note that Pimpri-Chinchwad’s water challenges stem from rising population, expanding residential and industrial developments, and increased water demand. Addressing these issues requires infrastructure upgrades, efficient pipeline management, rainwater harvesting, and effective water storage systems. A united political approach could fast-track the implementation of such measures.

Local residents have expressed frustration over the unpredictability of water supply, particularly during peak summer months, when limited supply worsens daily inconveniences. Reliable access to water is crucial not just for drinking and cooking but also for sanitation, firefighting, and industrial activities. A consistent daily supply would reduce dependence on private tankers and improve overall public health and hygiene standards.

The corporator’s call for cross-party cooperation aims to shift focus from short-term interventions to a more collaborative strategy that prioritizes citizen welfare over political differences. Highlighting water as a basic public service underscores the urgency of implementing actionable, long-term solutions.

As civic authorities and political leaders consider this proposal, residents hope that coordinated action will ensure uninterrupted water supply, marking a step forward in addressing one of Pimpri-Chinchwad’s most pressing civic issues.
