Pune, October 17, 2025:
A pet dog named Dash reportedly died following a grooming session at Vetic Pet Shop in Kalyaninagar on September 28. The dog began vomiting after a bath and later succumbed, prompting concerns over staff negligence.

The dog’s owner, a young woman residing in Vadgaon Sheri, filed a complaint alleging mishandling and negligence by the pet shop staff. She claimed that her pet was healthy prior to the grooming and that the incident could have been prevented with proper care.

In response, Yerawada Police have registered a case against the shop owner and two employees under Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, along with other relevant legal provisions. Assistant Police Inspector Dinesh Patil is leading the investigation, gathering evidence and statements from the involved parties.

Authorities are examining the pet shop’s grooming procedures, handling practices, and hygiene standards. Legal experts note that such cases highlight the importance of accountability in pet care services and adherence to animal welfare laws.

The investigation is ongoing, and police have advised pet owners to carefully choose grooming services and report any suspicious or negligent practices. The case has drawn attention to the responsibilities of pet shops in ensuring the health and safety of animals under their care.
