Pune, October 31, 2025: Pimpri–Chinchwad is gearing up to host the prestigious IFSC Asian Kids Climbing Championship 2025, a major international sporting event that will bring together around 200 young athletes from 13 different countries. The championship, scheduled from November 1 to 4, will be held at the newly developed state-of-the-art Sport Climbing Complex in Yoga Park, Pimple Saudagar. This marks the first time an international-level climbing event of this scale will be organized in the city, reflecting its growing reputation as a hub for sports and youth development.
The event will feature three categories of competition — Speed Climbing, Lead Climbing, and Bouldering, with participants competing in two age groups: Under-13 and Under-15. These young climbers will test their physical agility, endurance, and strategic skills across challenging vertical routes designed to meet international standards.
The Sport Climbing Complex in Yoga Park was developed under the Smart City Mission of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and is equipped with world-class facilities that meet international specifications. It has already hosted national and regional competitions and is now ready to welcome global athletes. Local officials stated that this event is a significant milestone, as it not only promotes adventure sports but also positions Pimpri-Chinchwad as a major center for international sporting events.
According to city authorities, hosting the IFSC Asian Kids Climbing Championship is a matter of pride and a testament to the city’s commitment to developing advanced sports infrastructure. The event is also expected to inspire local youth to pursue competitive climbing and other adventure sports. The presence of athletes from multiple Asian countries will create a vibrant atmosphere and foster cultural exchange among participants.
Beyond the competition itself, the event is seen as an opportunity to boost tourism, hospitality, and local business in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area. Sports enthusiasts, schools, and families from Pune and neighboring regions are expected to attend, making it a community celebration of international sport. The organizers have also planned side activities to introduce children to the basics of climbing, with a focus on safety, discipline, and teamwork.
Climbing as a sport has been steadily growing in popularity in India, especially after its inclusion in the Olympic Games. Events like the Asian Kids Climbing Championship play a crucial role in nurturing young talent who may go on to represent India on global platforms. This competition not only enhances the city’s international profile but also contributes to the long-term vision of promoting outdoor and adventure sports culture among children.
