PM Modi Chairs High-Level Meet Amid West Asia Tensions, Focus on Fuel and Energy Security

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed India’s fuel, power and supply preparedness, directing coordinated action to ensure uninterrupted availability of essential resources amid escalating West Asia tensions.

New Delhi | March 23 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting on Sunday to assess the impact of escalating tensions in West Asia on India’s energy security and essential supply chains.

The , attended by senior ministers and top officials, focused on reviewing the availability of critical resources such as petroleum, natural gas, power and fertilisers. The government evaluated both immediate and long-term measures to ensure uninterrupted supply and stable distribution across the country.

Officials said the review comes at a time when global energy markets are facing uncertainty due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, a region that plays a crucial role in supplying crude oil and gas to countries like India. Disruptions in key transit routes, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, have raised concerns over supply chain stability and rising fuel prices.
