Pune Municipal Corporation to begin a special campaign from November 3 to make city roads pothole-free. Fifteen civic teams and seven contractors will repair damaged roads across Pune.
Pune, November 1, 2025 – The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced a citywide campaign to make all roads pothole-free starting November 3. The initiative comes after repeated complaints from residents about poor road conditions caused by heavy rains and excavation work across the city.
Under this campaign, PMC will deploy 15 teams from its regional offices, each responsible for about 10 kilometers of road repairs. Seven contractors have been appointed to carry out the work, focusing on patching and resurfacing the most damaged areas. The campaign aims to improve the city’s infrastructure and ensure smooth commuting for residents before the onset of the winter season.
PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram said the drive is part of an ongoing effort to address long-standing problems related to road maintenance. He emphasized that the monsoon and repeated utility digging had caused severe damage to roads in many areas. The upcoming drive will prioritize repairing internal roads, main arteries, and routes used for public transport.
Over the past few years, Pune has faced growing criticism for uneven road repair work and temporary patching that doesn’t withstand heavy rains. This time, PMC has directed contractors to use improved materials and ensure better quality in road restoration. Civic engineers have also been asked to monitor ongoing work and report progress daily.
In addition to filling potholes, the campaign includes cleaning drainage lines, resurfacing damaged stretches, and improving traffic flow around key intersections. Officials expect the work to continue throughout November, with completion scheduled before early December.
Residents are urged to cooperate during the campaign, as temporary diversions and minor traffic slowdowns are expected in some areas. Civic officials have appealed to citizens to report any unrepaired roads through the PMC helpline or online complaint portal.
The campaign reflects PMC’s renewed focus on maintaining better roads and ensuring safer travel conditions for the people of Pune.
