April 1, 2026 | Nashik The Shirdi and Nashik police have stepped up efforts to trace Kalpana Kharat, wife of accused Ashok alias ‘Bhondu’ Kharat, after she went absconding following the registration of a case related to the alleged illegal takeover of a four-acre land parcel in Shirdi. According to police sources, a case has been registered at the Shirdi Police Station under provisions of the Money Lending Act against Kalpana Kharat and five others. The complaint was filed by Ramdas Gondkar, who alleged that the accused used financial transactions as a means to illegally seize control of the land.
Following the complaint, police teams from Shirdi and Nashik launched a coordinated operation and conducted raids at multiple locations. However, Kalpana Kharat could not be traced during the searches. During the investigation, police detained Harshvardhan Kharat, son of Ashok Kharat, for interrogation. Officials stated that he is being questioned to gather information about Kalpana’s whereabouts and her possible movement after the case was filed.

Police have also carried out a raid at the ‘Truptabala’ bungalow linked to Ashok Kharat, where documents and files connected to the alleged land deal were reportedly seized. Investigators believe these records may provide crucial evidence in establishing the nature of the transactions and the alleged illegal possession. In the same case, two accused persons have already been arrested and produced before the court, which has granted police custody for further investigation.
Meanwhile, police teams searched areas including Karmayoginagar and the Govind RD Circle but failed to locate Kalpana. Sources indicated that she may have fled to Pune, prompting authorities to dispatch a team to the city to track her down. Police officials said the investigation is ongoing and further arrests are likely as the case develops.
