Pralhad Joshi lashes out at Rahul Gandhi over ‘blank‑paper Constitution’ remark during Belagavi event

Union minister Pralhad Joshi accused Rahul Gandhi of carrying a “blank‑paper Constitution” across Bharat, claiming he lacks knowledge of the document he highlights escalating the ongoing political debate.

Belagavi| December 1, 2025: Union minister Pralhad Joshi on Sunday sharply criticized Rahul Gandhi during a “Bhimachi Vatchal” event in Belagavi, alleging that Gandhi travels with a “blank‑paper Constitution” implying he does not truly understand the contents of the document he frequently invokes.

Addressing supporters, Joshi claimed the ruling Congress  Gandhi’s party  has itself carried out the most amendments to the Constitution. He challenged Gandhi’s familiarity with constitutional provisions, arguing that although Gandhi holds up a copy, he remains ignorant of what it actually entails.

This attack comes amid heated exchanges over constitutional values in the country. Just days ago, Rahul Gandhi had reaffirmed his commitment to safeguard the charter, calling it a “sacred promise” to ensure equality and justice for all.

Joshi’s statement signals the ruling party’s growing aggressive posture  accusing opponents not only of political dissent but of undermining constitutional legacy. Critics view this as an attempt to shift the debate from policy issues to personal credibility. Meanwhile, supporters of Gandhi argue that invoking constitutional ideals remains central to democratic politics, especially in times when secular and egalitarian values are debated in public discourse.

As political tensions mount, this war of words could further polarize public discourse ahead of future elections  making the Constitution itself a battleground between ideology and political rivalry.
