Pregnant Daughter‑in‑Law Arrested in Wazirabad After Allegedly Killing Mother‑in‑Law with Hammer

In north Delhi’s Wazirabad, a pregnant woman named Aafreen has been arrested for allegedly murdering her 58‑year-old mother‑in‑law with a hammer, then trying to disguise it as a fire.

New Delhi (Wazirabad), 25 November 2025: Delhi Police have arrested Aafreen, a 32‑year-old pregnant woman, in connection with the suspected murder of her mother‑in‑law, Nasrin, aged around 58, in Wazirabad. According to authorities, the death was first staged as a house fire, but investigations revealed signs of foul play.

The incident came to light on 19 November, when a PCR call was received reporting a fire on the first floor of their two‑storey house. When police and fire teams arrived, they found Nasrin’s severely burned body.Forensics later uncovered a blood-stained hammer at the scene, and traces of kerosene, raising suspicions.

During questioning, Aafreen gave inconsistent statements. Initially, she claimed that three to four men had broken into the house, assaulted her, and stolen jewelry. But later, she changed her story, saying that she was struck with a hammer and that her mother‑in‑law was the one who died.

A postmortem found multiple head injuries on Nasrin’s skull  injuries consistent with hammer blows. Based on the evidence and her changing testimonies, police have registered a murder case.

Law enforcement officials suggest that the murder may have been motivated by a property dispute within the family. Aafreen has been remanded in custody, and further investigations are ongoing.

The shocking nature of the crime  involving a pregnant suspect and a staged fire  has drawn attention across Delhi, underscoring how deep‑rooted family conflicts and property tensions can lead to tragic outcomes.
