Pune City Overrun by Congratulatory Flexes, Raising Urban Aesthetic Concerns
Pune
Following the election of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, congratulatory flexes and hoardings have spread across Pune, drawing attention from citizens and city authorities concerned about urban aesthetics.
Pune| February 12, 2026: After Manjusha Nagpure was elected Mayor and Parshuram Wadekar as Deputy Mayor, congratulatory flexes have appeared across the city’s major intersections. During the election, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had issued a clear directive that the city should remain “flex-free,” and BJP state general secretary Rajesh Pandey had instructed party workers not to put up any flexes. However, immediately after the election results, unauthorized hoardings and flexes started appearing across Pune.

Congratulatory flexes have been prominently displayed in areas such as Bajirao Road, Shaniwar Peth, Shukrawar Peth, Navi Peth, Swargate, Sinhagad Road, Dhayari, and Maharshi Nagar. Citizens and observers have raised concerns that the proliferation of these flexes is causing traffic congestion, safety risks, environmental degradation, and deterioration of the city’s aesthetic appeal.

Mayor Manjusha Nagpure stated that any unauthorized flexes would be removed immediately, but following the elections, authorities have not taken any aggressive action, and the administration is reportedly taking a passive “watching” approach. Prior to the elections, Commissioner Ram had taken strict action to ensure a flex-free city, but that rigor appears absent now.
Critics note that the disregard for urban aesthetics immediately after the party assumed power reflects poorly on enforcement. With party workers ignoring the Chief Minister’s and state general secretary’s orders, citizens are questioning who will take responsibility for regulating unauthorized flexes.
The situation has raised doubts among residents about whether municipal authorities will allow congratulatory flexes to remain across the city or take timely action to remove them.
