Pune| 31January,2026: The Pune City Police Commissionerate has carried out a major administrative reshuffle, transferring 25 police inspectors across various police stations and specialised units in the city. The transfers, implemented with immediate effect, are aimed at strengthening policing efficiency, improving supervision, and addressing evolving law and order challenges in rapidly expanding urban areas.

As part of the reshuffle, several inspectors have been promoted to the rank of Senior Police Inspector and assigned to key police stations considered sensitive or high-priority. Other officers have been shifted between crime, traffic, administrative, and specialised branches to ensure balanced deployment of experienced personnel across the city. The changes are intended to bring fresh leadership perspectives and improve coordination at the police station level.

Police officials stated that periodic transfers are a routine administrative exercise designed to prevent stagnation, enhance accountability, and deploy officers based on operational requirements. By rotating officers through different responsibilities, the department aims to strengthen crime prevention, investigation quality, and public grievance redressal.
