Pune Municipal Corporation plans a centralized software to track all civic properties, aiming to curb misuse, improve transparency, and ensure better planning and monitoring across departments
Pune | 20 March, 2026: In a move aimed at strengthening governance and transparency, the Pune Municipal Corporation has decided to develop a dedicated software system to bring all its properties under a single digital platform. The initiative is expected to provide detailed information about civic assets across the city with just one click.
With Pune expanding rapidly, the municipal body owns thousands of properties across different areas. However, the absence of a centralized database has made it difficult for the administration to track their current status, usage, and ownership details. Officials say this gap has often led to issues such as encroachments, unauthorized use, expired lease agreements, and pending dues going unnoticed.

The new software, being developed by the property management department, will compile data from all civic departments and regional offices. It will include details such as lease timelines, usage patterns, and property conditions, enabling better monitoring and timely decision-making.
Deputy Commissioner Prashant Thombre stated that nearly 90 percent of the required data has already been collected, with efforts underway to gather the remaining information. Once completed, a comprehensive database will be created to streamline property management and improve accountability.
Civic officials believe that this digital system will play a crucial role in ensuring planned urban development, preventing revenue losses, and enhancing coordination among departments managing public assets.
