DCM Sunetra Ajit Pawar pays tribute to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj at Tulapur and Vadhu Budruk on Balidan Smruti Din.

Pune | 18 March, 2026: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar paid heartfelt tributes to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj on the occasion of his 337th Balidan Smruti Din at Tulapur and Vadhu Budruk, two historically significant sites associated with the Maratha warrior king. The commemorative event witnessed the presence of several public representatives, officials, and local citizens who gathered to honor the legacy of Sambhaji Maharaj, remembered for his bravery and sacrifice in Maratha history.

During her visit, Pawar offered floral tributes at the samadhi of Sambhaji Maharaj in Vadhu Budruk, where his अंतिम rites were performed after his execution. She also paid respects at Tulapur, the place where the Maratha ruler was captured, tortured, and executed, making it a site of deep historical and emotional significance. The Deputy Chief Minister participated in a commemorative padyatra organized at Tulapur, walking alongside citizens to mark the martyrdom day, reflecting a strong public connection to the legacy of the Maratha empire.

The visit also included prayers at the Sangam area in Tulapur, where the Bhima, Bhama, and Indrayani rivers meet, and at the Sangameshwar temple, a spiritually important site in the region. Officials accompanying Pawar included local MLAs, district authorities, and Panchayat representatives, highlighting the significance of the occasion at both administrative and cultural levels.

Importantly, Pawar reviewed the progress of ongoing development works related to the memorial and surrounding infrastructure at both Tulapur and Vadhu Budruk. She instructed officials to ensure that these projects are completed within stipulated timelines while maintaining quality standards. The state government has been focusing on upgrading these historic sites to preserve their legacy and improve facilities for visitors and श्रद्धालु who visit annually to pay homage.
