Pune Drug Bust: Anti-Narcotics Task Force Arrests Three Including Transgender, Seizes Mephedrone Worth ₹3 Lakh
Pune Police’s Anti-Narcotics Task Force arrested three people, including a transgender person, for selling Mephedrone near Hadapsar. Drugs worth ₹3 lakh and other materials seized.
Pune, October 30, 2025 – The Pune Anti-Narcotics Task Force has arrested three individuals, including a transgender person, for allegedly selling the synthetic drug Mephedrone near the Hadapsar area. The operation, conducted earlier this week, led to the seizure of drugs worth around ₹3 lakh along with several incriminating materials.
According to officials, the task force team was on patrol in the Manjari Road and 15 Number Chowk area when they noticed suspicious activity involving a woman and a transgender person. Upon searching them, the police recovered 60.08 grams of Mephedrone, two mobile phones, a weighing scale, and a TVS Jupiter scooter. The total value of the seized items is estimated at ₹4.31 lakh.
After interrogation, the woman reportedly revealed the identity of her supplier — a 22-year-old man from Ghorpade Peth, who was later apprehended. All three have been charged under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and remanded in police custody.
Police sources said the accused were attempting to sell the drugs to local buyers when the task force intercepted them. Officials believe this group may be part of a larger local distribution network operating in Pune’s eastern suburbs. Further investigation is underway to trace the main supplier and uncover the wider chain of distribution.
The Anti-Narcotics Task Force, which has intensified its surveillance in areas like Hadapsar, Wanawadi, and Kalepadal, has been cracking down on the growing trade of synthetic drugs in the city. Officers said that small peddlers have been increasingly targeting youth with Mephedrone, commonly known as MD, because of its high demand and profitability.
Police Commissioner’s office has urged citizens to remain alert and report any suspicious activity linked to drug dealing in their areas. Authorities added that operations like these are part of a sustained campaign to curb the trafficking and sale of narcotic substances across Pune.
This case once again underscores the growing problem of synthetic drugs infiltrating city neighborhoods and the importance of coordinated action between police and local communities to combat the menace.
