In Pune’s Warje-Malwadi area, a man is accused of killing his wife over suspicion of an affair, burning her body in a rented godown’s fabrication-furnace and scattering remains, inspired by a movie plot.
PUNE, 08 November 2025 – A horrific murder case from Warje–Malwadi has shocked the city after police revealed that a man killed his wife, burned her body in a fabrication furnace and scattered the remains, allegedly inspired by tactics shown in the film “Drishyam.” The accused, 42-year-old Samir Punjabrao Jadhav, has been arrested for the killing of his wife, 38-year-old Anjali Jadhav.
Anjali was reported missing on 26 October. Samir filed the complaint two days later and appeared unusually eager during follow-ups, which raised suspicion. Investigators found inconsistencies in his statements, and under sustained questioning he confessed. Police said Samir had been suspecting his wife of an affair for several months and had been planning the crime after watching “Drishyam” three to four months earlier.
According to the investigation, Samir took Anjali out in his Hyundai i10 on the evening of 26 October. They stopped near Khadakwasla and eventually reached a rented godown in Shindewadi near Gogalwadi Phata. Samir had taken the godown on rent for ₹18,000 a month and had ensured their children were sent to relatives that night. Inside the godown, he strangled Anjali for nearly ten minutes. After she died, he placed her body in an iron box, poured petrol on it and burned it inside the furnace. The next morning, he sold the iron box as scrap to eliminate evidence.
Police tracked him using CCTV footage that captured him returning alone and driving toward the godown. They also matched details from scrap dealers contacted soon after the murder. The case was registered under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Warje–Malwadi Police Station before being handed over to Rajgad Police Station for further investigation.
Residents in the area say the brutality of the crime has left them shaken. Senior officers highlighted the level of pre-planning involved, noting that Samir had chosen an isolated location and equipment capable of destroying evidence almost entirely. Forensic teams are now combing the site and the surrounding areas, including a riverbank where some remains were allegedly scattered.
Police are examining whether the accused acted entirely alone or received any assistance in renting the godown, disposing of evidence or planning the sequence of events. They are also reviewing digital traces to understand how long the suspicion and planning had been going on.
