Pune man arrested for attacking hotel worker with liquor bottle over past enmity

Pune – Crime Branch arrested a 23-year-old man for assaulting a hotel worker by hitting him on the head with a liquor bottle during a dispute linked to earlier enmity.

Pune | 24 November 2025 – A young man with a history of criminal activity was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a hotel worker by smashing a liquor bottle on his head during a confrontation fueled by old rivalry. The arrested accused has been identified as Ramdas Baban Kachare, 23, a resident of Vegare in Kolavade village, Mulshi. Police said the attack took place after a heated argument escalated into violence, leaving the hotel employee seriously injured. The victim was rushed to a local hospital and is undergoing treatment for head injuries.

According to Crime Branch officials, Kachare has several prior cases registered against him under Hinjawadi and Paud police stations. His past record includes assault, threats and earlier disputes involving the same circle of individuals. Investigators believe the latest attack was not spontaneous but linked to ongoing hostility between the two men. After learning about the assault, Unit 1 officers traced Kachare’s movements and apprehended him from the Mulshi area. Police also recovered the broken bottle and other evidence from the scene.

Officials said Kachare tried to flee after the incident but was tracked down quickly due to previous intelligence inputs on his routine movements. He is now in custody and is being questioned about whether others were involved or if the attack was planned in advance. Police are also examining whether the accused had recently issued threats to the victim, as early statements suggest multiple arguments between them in recent weeks.

The Crime Branch has said they will be checking his involvement in other local disputes as well. Residents in the area told officers that the accused had been seen engaging in heated quarrels before and had a reputation for aggression. The arrest has brought temporary relief to hotel staff and locals who were shaken by the sudden violence.

The investigation continues, and further action will depend on the victim’s medical report and findings from witness statements. Police have assured they will tighten surveillance in the area to prevent similar incidents linked to personal enmity.
