Pune Metro Earns ₹8.22 Crore in February 2026; Ridership Crosses 53 Lakh

The Pune Metro continues to strengthen its role in urban mobility as it posted notable ridership and revenue figures for February 2026, reflecting growing public adoption and operational stability.

Pune |03 March 2026: The Pune Metro reported strong figures for February 2026, generating approximately ₹8.22 crore in fare revenue while transporting around 53.24 lakh passengers across its operational corridors. This represents a notable increase from previous years and underscores the growing reliance of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad residents on rapid mass transit solutions. The metro network has become an integral part of the city’s urban mobility strategy, easing traffic congestion and providing a reliable alternative to road travel.

The Ramwadi–Vanaz corridor led the revenue and ridership numbers, accounting for nearly 30 lakh rides and about ₹4.44 crore in fare collection. Meanwhile, the PCMC–Swargate line transported over 23 lakh passengers, generating roughly ₹3.77 crore. Together, these corridors form the backbone of the metro network, connecting key residential and commercial zones while offering commuters a convenient and time-efficient option.

Comparative data shows significant year-on-year growth. In February 2025, the metro recorded a ridership of just over 43 lakh passengers, indicating increasing public confidence and consistent adoption of the service. Rising numbers also reflect the city’s ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency and service reliability, making metro travel an attractive alternative to private vehicles.

However, some commuters have expressed concerns over first- and last-mile connectivity. Changes near stations, such as the relocation of the bus stop near Ramwadi Metro station, caused inconvenience for daily passengers, requiring many to use alternative modes like auto-rickshaws and taxis. These issues highlight the importance of integrating metro operations with local transport infrastructure to ensure seamless travel for users.

City transport authorities are monitoring ridership and revenue trends closely to optimise service schedules, enhance commuter amenities, and explore opportunities for non-fare revenue growth. With planned network extensions expected to connect more residential and commercial sectors, ridership is projected to continue rising in the coming months.
