Pune Municipal Election 2026: Growing Public Outreach Brings Abhijit Bhagwat Raut into Focus in Ward 11
Election
Abhijit Bhagwat Raut’s grassroots work in Ward 11 Ramabag Colony–Shivtirth Nagar gains attention ahead of Pune Municipal Election 2026, with focus on development and public welfare.
January 9, 2026 | Pune – As preparations for the Pune Municipal Corporation Election 2026 gather pace, Ward 11 encompassing Ramabag Colony and Shivtirth Nagar has witnessed growing discussion around the work and public outreach of Abhijit Bhagwat Raut. Known for his active involvement in social initiatives, infrastructure development, and health-related programmes, Raut’s name has increasingly resonated among local residents in recent months.
A resident of the same locality, Abhijit Raut maintains direct and regular contact with citizens, which many believe gives him a clear understanding of ground-level issues. Locals say this proximity has enabled him to respond quickly to civic concerns and build a rapport based on accessibility and trust. His growing public presence has become particularly noticeable in the backdrop of the upcoming municipal elections.
Raut’s journey into social work did not begin with a political legacy. From his school days, he showed an inclination towards community service, actively participating in public initiatives, organising local events, and stepping forward to address citizens’ problems. He has often stated that trust matters more than power in public life, a principle that supporters say is reflected in his consistent engagement with residents.
Since 2007, Raut has been associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party, using the platform to expand his social and developmental work. Inspired by the development-oriented leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he has focused on resolving civic issues through coordination with elected representatives and administrative authorities. His experience across areas such as Rajgad, Bhor, and Mulshi, along with familiarity with the Khadakwasla vidhansabha constituency, is seen as an added strength in his public work.
In terms of tangible development, significant infrastructure projects have been completed in the past three to four years in areas that earlier fell under Ward 38. Localities including Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Annabhau Sathe Nagar, Krushnanagar, Jhambare Vasti, Siddharth Nagar, and Chaitravan Vasahat have seen drainage and road development works worth approximately ₹3.5 crore. These projects were executed using development funds from Khadakwasla MLA Bhimrao (Anna) Tapkir, and residents report noticeable relief in daily civic challenges as a result.
Raut has also been visible on the ground when immediate civic problems arise. In areas such as Dattanagar and Krantisena in the Sutarwadi region, he personally visited locations where drainage and streetlight complaints were raised. Residents say he actively coordinated with the administration to ensure timely solutions, reinforcing his image as someone willing to step in rather than limit himself to representations alone.
Healthcare initiatives form another important part of his public work. Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, a large Ayushman Bharat card distribution programme was organised, benefiting nearly 2,000 citizens with health insurance coverage of up to ₹5 lakh. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Kothrud MLA Chandrakant Patil and inaugurated by former Mayor Murlidhar Mohol, helping extend essential healthcare security to economically vulnerable families.
With the civic elections approaching, Abhijit Bhagwat Raut has expressed his aspiration to represent Ward 11 from Ramabag Colony–Shivtirth Nagar in the Pune Municipal Corporation. Local political circles indicate that discussions around his candidature are largely positive, driven by visible work rather than mere announcements.
As of January 9, 2026, his growing public outreach and development-oriented approach have positioned him as a notable figure in Ward 11’s local political landscape. Whether this momentum translates into electoral opportunity will be seen in the coming weeks, but his work has already sparked meaningful conversations about grassroots leadership and accountability in Pune’s civic politics.
