December 26, 2025 | Pune – In a major success for Pune Police, the Parvati Police Station team has arrested a thief who stole a tempo loaded with goods and fled from the city. Acting swiftly on the complaint, the police not only traced and arrested the accused but also recovered stolen goods worth approximately ₹14 lakh, dealing a significant blow to organised vehicle and cargo theft in the area.
According to police officials, the incident came to light after a tempo owner lodged a complaint stating that his vehicle, along with valuable goods loaded inside, had been stolen from the Parvati area. The tempo was reportedly parked when the accused took advantage of the situation and fled with the vehicle. Considering the high value of the stolen goods, Parvati Police immediately registered a case and formed a special team to investigate the matter.
During the course of the investigation, police analysed CCTV footage from nearby areas and tracked the movement of the stolen tempo. Technical surveillance and local intelligence inputs played a crucial role in narrowing down the suspect. Based on these leads, the accused was identified and apprehended within a short span of time, preventing further disposal of the stolen goods.

Upon interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to the crime and revealed the location where the stolen tempo and goods were hidden. Acting on this information, police conducted a recovery operation and successfully seized the tempo along with goods worth around ₹14 lakh. Officials confirmed that the recovered items include commercial materials that were intended for delivery, causing significant financial loss to the owner.
Police officials stated that the accused has a prior criminal record and is suspected to be involved in similar theft cases in the past. Further investigation is underway to determine whether the accused acted alone or as part of a larger theft network. Authorities are also probing whether the stolen vehicle was intended to be sold or dismantled for parts.
The successful recovery has brought relief to the victim, who had expressed concern over the financial impact of the theft. Police have assured that the seized goods will be returned to the rightful owner after completion of legal procedures. Senior officers praised the Parvati Police team for their prompt action and effective coordination.
This case has once again highlighted the importance of CCTV surveillance and rapid police response in tackling property crimes in urban areas. Pune Police officials reiterated that strict action will continue against vehicle thieves and criminal gangs involved in cargo theft, warning offenders that such crimes will not go unchecked.
Local residents have welcomed the police action, stating that incidents of vehicle theft create fear among citizens and disrupt daily business activities. Many have urged authorities to increase patrolling in vulnerable areas and encourage vehicle owners to adopt safety measures such as secure parking and tracking devices.
As of December 26, 2025, the accused remains in police custody, and further investigation is ongoing. Parvati Police have confirmed that additional cases may be linked to the accused, and more recoveries are possible.
