Pune | 24 March, 2026: In a major step to curb the growing drug menace in Pune, the city police are developing a new mobile application that will allow citizens to report drug-related activities anonymously. The initiative comes amid rising concerns over increasing drug consumption and trafficking, particularly among the youth, prompting authorities to adopt technology-driven solutions for faster and safer reporting.

According to police officials, the app’s key feature will be complete anonymity, ensuring that the identity of informants remains fully protected. Even officers handling the case will not have access to the personal details of the person providing information. This is expected to significantly encourage citizens to come forward without fear of retaliation or exposure, a major barrier in reporting such crimes.

The application will enable users to upload photos, videos, and precise location details, which will be directly sent to the police control room for immediate action. Officials believe that real-time inputs from the public can help authorities track drug networks more efficiently and respond quickly to suspicious activities.

A senior officer highlighted the seriousness of the issue, stating that drug addiction in Pune has reached alarming levels across different sections of society—from slum areas to upscale neighborhoods.
