Pune |24 March, 2026: In an effort to intensify the crackdown on drug trafficking and illegal sale of narcotics, Pune Police are set to introduce a dedicated mobile application that will allow citizens to share information anonymously. The initiative is aimed at strengthening intelligence gathering while ensuring the safety and confidentiality of informants.
Senior police officials said the app will enable users to upload photographs, videos, and precise location details of suspected drug-related activities. The information will be directly accessible to designated officers within the police commissionerate, ensuring swift action on credible inputs.
Authorities acknowledged that drug trafficking networks often operate discreetly across both residential and upscale areas of the city, making detection challenging. By involving citizens, police hope to bridge the information gap and respond more effectively to such illegal activities.Officials emphasized that the identity of individuals sharing information will remain completely confidential. Even officers involved in field operations will not have access to the complainant’s details, addressing a key concern that often discourages people from coming forward.
The initiative is expected to enhance collaboration between the public and law enforcement agencies. According to Additional Commissioner of Police Ranjankumar Sharma, the app will initially be rolled out on a pilot basis, with the crime branch overseeing its operations.
Police believe that active citizen participation through this platform will play a crucial role in curbing drug-related crimes and improving overall law and order in Pune.
