Pune Police Urge Citizens to Report Illegal Hoardings via PTP App, Strict Action Warned

Pune Police have appealed to citizens to report illegal hoardings through the PTP app, warning of strict legal action, while expanding its use beyond traffic violations to improve urban discipline

Pune | 24 March, 2026: In a bid to tighten action against illegal hoardings across the city, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has urged citizens to use the PTP app to report such violations. Originally developed to report traffic rule breaches, the app will now also serve as a platform to flag unauthorized hoardings.

The move comes as part of the ongoing ‘Hoarding-Free Pune’ campaign being jointly implemented by the Pune Municipal Corporation and city police. Authorities have expressed concern over the increasing number of illegal hoardings, which not only deface the city but also pose safety risks. Strict legal action, including the filing of criminal cases, will be initiated against those responsible, officials said.

The initiative gained momentum after concerns were raised at the state level regarding the growing issue of unauthorized hoardings. Senior civic and police officials had earlier indicated a coordinated crackdown to restore order and improve the city’s visual landscape.

Police have also extended the use of the PTP app to address issues such as abandoned vehicles parked along roadsides. Citizens have been encouraged to upload photographs of such vehicles, enabling authorities to take prompt action. The civic body has already identified 15 locations for relocating these vehicles, with towing vans deployed to assist the process.

Since its launch, the PTP app has seen strong public participation, with over 1.5 lakh users registering nearly 2.49 lakh complaints. Following verification, more than 1.76 lakh vehicle owners have faced penalties through e-challans. Officials recently recognized top contributors, awarding cash prizes to citizens actively reporting violations.
