Pune,October 29, 2025 – Pune has achieved a new milestone in digital trade by securing the 26th position among Indian cities with the highest exports through the Amazon Global Selling program. This ranking showcases the city’s rising contribution to India’s cross-border e-commerce exports and highlights how entrepreneurs and small businesses from Pune are successfully tapping into international markets.

The Amazon Global Selling initiative allows Indian exporters to showcase and sell their products to customers across the world through Amazon’s international marketplaces, including the United States, United Kingdom, UAE, Germany, and more. Thousands of Indian micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have joined this platform to expand their business reach globally, and Pune’s growing participation has placed it among India’s top 30 export cities.

Maharashtra continues to be a strong performer in India’s export landscape, with cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, and Nagpur emerging as key contributors. Pune’s inclusion in this list demonstrates that its business ecosystem is evolving beyond its traditional strengths in IT and automobile manufacturing, venturing actively into global e-commerce trade.

Experts note that this development is more than just a ranking — it marks a structural transformation in how Pune-based entrepreneurs are leveraging digital tools to access global consumers. Local MSMEs, handicraft units, and lifestyle brands are increasingly using e-commerce exports as an alternative channel to reach overseas buyers without heavy investments in physical trade networks.

The data also points to a wider diversification of export categories. Products from Pune are gaining traction internationally in home décor, kitchenware, fashion accessories, health and beauty products, and wellness items. These sectors, often dominated by small and mid-sized businesses, are seeing consistent year-on-year growth, indicating sustainable export potential.

Pune’s strong logistics infrastructure, skilled workforce, and proximity to key industrial hubs like Mumbai and PCMC (Pimpri-Chinchwad) are helping businesses streamline their global operations. The availability of air cargo connectivity and warehousing solutions is also contributing to this e-commerce export boom.

Industry leaders believe that if Pune continues to receive institutional support — such as digital export training, export facilitation centers, and tax incentives — the city could soon climb into the top 20 export cities of India. The current ranking highlights the untapped potential of Pune’s entrepreneurial community to play a larger role in India’s digital export growth story.
