Pune | 21 March, 2026: In a disturbing incident highlighting rising security concerns in Pune, two men were arrested for allegedly assaulting a security guard at a housing society in Mohammadwadi after he refused them entry. The incident took place at Ganga Kingston Society on Thursday evening around 7:30 pm and has triggered outrage among residents over safety lapses in the area.
According to police officials, the accused-identified as Arvind Vinayak Gade (21) and Gangapur Mahadev Gawai (22)—attempted to force their way into the society through the exit gate. When the 26-year-old security guard stopped them, citing standard entry protocols, the situation quickly escalated into violence.
Reports state that the duo, unable to justify their visit or provide details of any resident they intended to meet, grew aggressive after being denied access. In a shocking turn of events, one of the accused allegedly picked up a stick and struck the guard on the head, causing serious injuries. The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he received multiple stitches for his wounds.

The entire assault was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the society, and the footage has since surfaced on social media, intensifying public concern. Police from Kalepadal station acted swiftly following the victim’s complaint and arrested both accused. Officials confirmed that further investigation is underway, including examination of CCTV footage and witness statements.
Residents of the housing society have expressed anger and fear following the incident, claiming that such disturbances have become increasingly frequent in the area. Some residents alleged that the accused appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and had no legitimate reason to enter the premises. They also pointed to a broader pattern of late-night nuisance, including trespassing, loud disturbances, and suspicious activities, raising questions about local law enforcement and security measures.
This incident has once again brought attention to the challenges faced by frontline security personnel, who often deal with aggressive behavior while enforcing basic safety rules. Experts emphasize the need for stricter access control systems, enhanced surveillance, and increased police patrolling in rapidly developing urban areas like Mohammadwadi.
In conclusion, while the swift arrest of the accused offers some reassurance, the incident underscores a growing need for stronger security enforcement and community vigilance in Pune’s residential zones. Ensuring the safety of security guards and residents alike must remain a priority as urban expansion continues to bring new challenges.
