Pune to Get 8-Lane Elevated Corridor from Nashik Phata to Khed to Ease Traffic CongestionPune,
8 Lane Road
A major transportation infrastructure initiative is underway with plans to construct an 8-lane elevated corridor between Nashik Phata and Khed aimed at decongesting the busy Pune–Nashik highway and boosting connectivity to key industrial hubs in the region.

March 30, 2026: The ₹7,827 crore project, spanning approximately 30 kilometres, is being developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Technical bids for the project have already been opened, with leading infrastructure firms including Adani Enterprises, GR Infraprojects, and Prakash Asphalting and Toll Highways India expected to compete for the contract. Designed to significantly reduce the chronic traffic bottlenecks experienced on one of the region’s busiest roadways, the elevated corridor will feature an eight-lane flyover constructed on a single-pillar design while the existing highway will be widened to four or six lanes with dedicated service roads to segregate local and long-distance traffic.
Officials say the project is particularly important for improving direct connectivity between Pimpri-Chinchwad and Rajgurunagar (Khed) and facilitating smoother travel for commuters and commercial vehicles alike. Once complete, the corridor is expected to cut travel times dramatically while enhancing road safety and logistical efficiency for businesses operating in industrial zones such as Chakan, Bhosari, and Moshi. The elevated corridor comes amid broader efforts to upgrade highway infrastructure and address surging traffic volumes resulting from rapid urban and industrial growth in the Pune metropolitan region. By providing a high-capacity, uninterrupted traffic route, authorities aim to ease daily congestion that has long frustrated commuters and truckers alike.

Despite challenges with land acquisition especially in areas between Bhosari and Moshi and funding mechanisms, political and administrative follow-through has propelled the project to the tendering stage. Local leaders have underscored the importance of timely execution to maximize its impact on regional mobility and economic development.
