Pune Police have uncovered a shocking murder case in which a woman was killed by a father and son in Yerwada, her body kept inside their home for three days, and later dumped near the Lohegaon–Wagholi road. The case came to light on November 18 when locals spotted a woman’s decomposed and partially burnt body near a crematorium. The discovery prompted an investigation led by the Pune Airport Police, who immediately began checking CCTV footage and nearby routes.

Footage captured a rickshaw travelling toward the dumping spot in the early morning hours. Police traced the rickshaw back to Yerwada, where further enquiries led them to the suspects—Ravi Sable, aged 30, and his father, Ramesh Sable, aged 63. Both lived in Yashwant Nagar and were taken into custody after police gathered preliminary evidence linking them to the incident.

Investigators say the woman had been staying with Ravi for several days, and a heated argument on November 14 escalated into violence. During that confrontation, the accused allegedly attacked her with a brick and a wooden plank, resulting in her death. Instead of informing authorities, the two men kept her body inside their home for nearly three days, fearful that neighbours might notice. When the smell became difficult to contain, they hired a rickshaw early in the morning and transported the body to a secluded stretch near the crematorium.

A post-mortem confirmed multiple injuries consistent with a violent assault. Police say the father and son have admitted to their involvement in both the killing and the disposal of the body. They remain in custody as officers continue to review phone records, witness statements and forensic reports.

Residents of Yashwant Nagar expressed shock, saying they had no idea such a crime had taken place so close by. Some recalled noticing a foul smell in the area but assumed it was related to garbage or drainage issues. The case has raised safety concerns among families and individuals living in rental homes or temporary arrangements.

Officials say the next steps involve confirming the victim’s full identity, establishing the exact timeline of events and determining the motive behind the argument that led to the murder. Police are also verifying the rickshaw trail, the suspects’ movements and any possible previous altercations. Depending on the evidence collected, the charges will likely include murder, destruction of evidence and illegal disposal of a body.

The brutality of the incident and the attempt to hide the body for days have disturbed many in the city. Activists note that cases like this highlight the importance of reporting suspicious behaviour early, especially in densely packed neighbourhoods. Authorities have urged residents to remain alert and to inform police immediately if they notice anything unusual.

As the investigation progresses, police say they will prepare a detailed charge sheet once forensic results and witness accounts are complete. For now, the focus remains on establishing the full sequence of events that led to the woman’s death and ensuring the case moves swiftly toward prosecution.
