BJP leader Ravindra Chavan strongly counters Ajit Pawar’s corruption allegations in Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, escalating political heat ahead of PCMC Election 2026.

January 3, 2026 | Pimpri-Chinchwad – The political temperature in Pimpri-Chinchwad has risen sharply ahead of the Municipal Corporation Election 2026 after senior BJP leader Ravindra Chavan launched a strong counterattack on NCP leader Ajit Pawar over allegations of corruption. Responding to Pawar’s claims against the BJP-led administration, Chavan dismissed the accusations as baseless and politically motivated, asserting that the BJP has delivered transparent and development-oriented governance in the city.

Speaking to the media on January 3, 2026, Ravindra Chavan said that Ajit Pawar’s statements reflect frustration rather than facts. He accused the NCP of attempting to mislead voters by raising corruption allegations without evidence, especially at a time when civic elections are approaching. Chavan maintained that the BJP has nothing to hide and is prepared to answer any questions through proper audits and official records.

Chavan pointed out that Pimpri-Chinchwad has witnessed large-scale infrastructure development over the past few years, including improved road networks, better water supply systems, upgraded healthcare facilities, and enhanced urban infrastructure. According to him, these visible developments contradict the opposition’s narrative of corruption and misgovernance. He argued that if corruption were rampant, such projects would not have materialised at the scale seen in the city.

Targeting Ajit Pawar directly, Ravindra Chavan said the NCP leader should first explain his own party’s record when it held power in the municipal corporation. He alleged that corruption issues were far more serious during earlier administrations and accused the NCP of selectively raising issues for political gain. Chavan stated that voters are aware of the difference between allegations and actual performance.

Ajit Pawar had earlier accused the BJP of corruption in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, claiming that funds were misused and development was stalled. His remarks were aimed at building an opposition narrative around governance failures and accountability. However, the BJP has responded aggressively, making it clear that it will not allow such allegations to go unanswered during the election campaign.

Political observers note that corruption has emerged as a central theme in the PCMC election discourse. Pimpri-Chinchwad, being one of the richest municipal corporations in Maharashtra, commands significant attention, and control over it is politically crucial. Allegations and counter-allegations are therefore expected to intensify as polling draws closer.

Chavan also emphasised that the BJP’s focus remains on development rather than political mudslinging. He said the party is confident of facing the electorate on the basis of work done and future plans for the city. According to him, the BJP’s campaign will highlight governance reforms, efficient administration, and coordination with the state government to accelerate urban development.

Opposition leaders, meanwhile, have continued to question the BJP’s claims, insisting that issues of transparency and accountability must be addressed publicly. They argue that civic elections are an opportunity for voters to scrutinise those in power and demand explanations for perceived shortcomings.

For residents of Pimpri-Chinchwad, daily civic issues such as traffic congestion, waste management, water supply, and infrastructure maintenance remain key concerns. Many voters have expressed that beyond political accusations, they expect concrete solutions and clear accountability from all parties contesting the election.

As of January 3, 2026, the exchange between Ajit Pawar and Ravindra Chavan has added intensity to the PCMC election campaign. With both sides sharpening their attacks, the political narrative in Pimpri-Chinchwad is expected to revolve around governance, development, and credibility.

The coming weeks will determine how effectively parties can convert rhetoric into voter trust. What is clear is that the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Election 2026 is shaping up to be a fiercely contested battle, with corruption allegations and development claims at the forefront of the political debate.
