Heroic Mumbai man guides pregnant woman through delivery at Ram Mandir station via video call, showcasing courage and quick thinking.

Mumbai, October 17, 2025: In a heartwarming display of courage and quick thinking, a young Mumbaikar became an overnight hero after helping a pregnant woman deliver her baby on a railway platform at Mumbai’s Ram Mandir Station. The incident, which occurred past midnight on Thursday, has drawn widespread attention on social media, earning comparisons to the iconic “Rancho” scene from the Bollywood hit 3 Idiots. Around 12:40 am, a woman travelling from Goregaon to Mumbai in a local train suddenly went into labour. Fellow passengers were thrown into panic as the woman’s cries for help echoed through the train compartment. Without hesitation, Vikas Dilip Bedre, a young resident of Mumbai, pulled the train’s emergency chain to halt the train at the nearest station, Ram Mandir. Observing that the baby was already partially delivered, Vikas immediately contacted his friend, Dr. Devika Deshmukh, over a video call. With calm precision, he followed the doctor’s instructions, guiding the woman through the delivery process. By 1:30 am, both mother and baby were safe, with the newborn’s first cries marking the end of a tense but triumphant ordeal.

Witnesses described Vikas’s presence of mind as extraordinary. Musician Manjeet Dhillon, who shared a video of the incident on Instagram, called him “an angel in human form.” Dhillon noted, “The woman’s baby was halfway out. At that very moment, it felt like God had sent this brother there for a reason.” The woman’s family reportedly had been turned away from a nearby hospital earlier, leaving them with no immediate medical assistance. Thanks to Vikas’s intervention, the mother and baby were quickly transported to a hospital by railway police and staff, where doctors confirmed that both were healthy and stable.

The incident quickly went viral, with social media users praising Vikas for his quick thinking and compassion. Comments flooded in, describing him as the pride of Mumbai and an example of the city’s resilient spirit. The video highlighted not only the unpredictability of urban life but also the capacity for human empathy and courage in moments of crisis. This event underscores the importance of emergency preparedness, especially in public spaces such as railway stations. Experts suggest that basic first-aid training and awareness can make the difference between life and death in critical situations. Vikas’s ability to follow medical guidance over a video call demonstrates how technology can bridge gaps in urgent healthcare scenarios, particularly in crowded cities like Mumbai.

As Mumbai continues to grow as a fast-paced metropolis, such incidents highlight the role ordinary citizens can play in saving lives. Vikas Bedre’s swift action at Ram Mandir station is a testament to courage, quick thinking, and the power of human kindness. In an era where urban challenges are often magnified, this real-life “Rancho” has set an example of empathy, resourcefulness, and the life-saving potential of technology.
