A 35-year-old IT consultant in Kharadi was stabbed after his scooter’s mirror brushed an SUV. Police are on the hunt for the driver and his companion.
Pune|November 29, 2025: A road-rage incident in Pune’s Kharadi area turned violent when a scooter and an SUV grazed each other on a narrow road, leading to a senior IT consultant being stabbed near his rib. The 35-year-old was on his way to conduct a private class when the side mirror of his parked scooter made contact with the SUV. The occupants of the SUV allegedly got out, confronted him and a woman also stepped in, escalating the situation. When the consultant questioned the assault, the driver returned to his vehicle, grabbed a knife and stabbed him before fleeing the scene in the SUV.
He managed to reach a private hospital for treatment. Police at Kharadi have now registered a case under the sections dealing with causing hurt with a dangerous weapon and launched a search for the adult driver and the woman who accompanied him. The prime suspect has been identified as a resident of a nearby taluka but is not at the registered address, according to investigators.
Officers said that the dispute grew worse once both vehicles came to a stop, verbal abuse turned physical and the woman allegedly participated in the assault. The consultant’s timely visit to hospital and his statement recording at the police station enabled formal complaint registration. Authorities are checking CCTV footage and seeking eyewitnesses for further leads.
This incident underscores the increasing frequency of road-rage cases in urban areas where minor vehicle contact spirals into serious assaults. The fact that the victim was an educated professional adds to public concern about safety on city roads. Police sources warn that aggressive driving, impatience in traffic, narrow lanes and weak conflict de-escalation are contributing to an “every-day risk” scenario for commuters.
For residents, the message is clear: even minor contact between vehicles should be handled calmly and drivers are urged to avoid confrontation, move aside, collect vehicle numbers and report to authorities rather than escalating a situation. It also suggests that small private-vehicles and two-wheelers in busy areas like Kharadi need added vigilance for possible conflicts. Businesses and commuters who frequently travel during peak hours should consider using helmet-mounted cameras or dash-cams to document incidents.
In conclusion, the Kharadi road-rage episode, resulting in a stabbing after a seemingly minor mirror-brush, demonstrates how quickly circumstances can deteriorate on urban roads. With the suspects still at large, the coming days will be critical for police investigations and public safety reminders. Urban traffic behaviour, enforcement of road norms and awareness about de-escalation must all be strengthened to prevent such disturbing incidents.
