Satara athletes led the third day of the Kolhapur Range Police Sports Tournament in Baramati with dominant wins in athletics, weightlifting, and powerlifting, while team events progressed to competitive semifinal rounds.
Baramati, November 20,2025: The 51st Kolhapur Range Police Sports Tournament 2025, hosted this year by the Pune Rural Police, is progressing with great enthusiasm across multiple venues in Baramati. The tournament, scheduled from November 17 to 21, is being held at the Police Sub-Headquarters Ground, Pune Rural Vidya Pratishthan Main Ground, Agriculture Development Trust Ground at Shardanagar, and the Veer Savarkar Swimming Pool.

Police personnel from different districts are putting aside their regular stress and high-pressure duties, participating in the games with visible energy and team spirit.
Third Day Sees Intense Competition
The third day of the tournament on November 19 brought a fresh wave of competitive excitement, with athletes giving their best to secure medals for their districts.
Satara Leads Athletics With Multiple Gold Medals
In athletics, Satara continued its strong performance:
- 3000m Steeplechase (Men): Harshavardhan Dabbade (Satara)
- 400m (Men): Sanjay Kalugawit (Satara)
- 1500m (Men): Omkar Kumbhar (Kolhapur)
- Shot Put (Men): Ishraq Shaikh (Pune Rural)
Satara teams clinched gold in all men’s and women’s relay events (4x100m and 4x400m).
In the women’s 1500m, Sonali Desai (Kolhapur) secured gold, while Madhavi Yadav (Satara) topped the women’s shot put.
Dominant Show in Weightlifting and Powerlifting
Weightlifting events saw a near clean sweep from Satara athletes across multiple categories.

Tejas Bhosale, Nikhil Jangade, Ganesh Devarukhe, Santosh Muluk, Sachin Adamane, Deepak Pol, Swapnil Patil, Samir Kashid
Women’s Weightlifting Gold Winners:
Damini Sapkal, Nikita Wagh, Vaishnavi Shinde, Apeksha Kirve, Mayuri Kumbhar, Madhavi Yadav, Dhanshri Bhagat, Kanchan Tikamkar
Powerlifting events also followed a similar pattern, with notable wins for Satara and strong performances by Solapur and Kolhapur competitors.

Team Games Enter Semifinals
Team sports reached the semifinal stage today. In a tightly fought football match between Satara and Sangli, the Satara team emerged victorious.
Medical Arrangements and Facilities in Place
A medical team led by Dr. Vikhe from Pune Rural Police remained stationed at the grounds with an ambulance. Energy drinks, drinking water, and essential facilities were arranged for all participants.
Senior Officers Felicitate Winners
Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill, Additional SP Ramesh Chopde, and Sub-Divisional Officer Sudarshan Rathod congratulated the medal winners and encouraged athletes for their discipline and effort.

Students Visit Tournament, Add to the Energetic Atmosphere
Schools including ZP Primary School (Rui), Vidya Pratishthan’s Primary and Secondary School (Baramati), English Modern School (Shelgaon), and New English School (Karkhel) visited the event and cheered for the players, boosting the atmosphere.
