Ichalkaranji (Kolhapur)| 29 November 2025: A 17-year-old boy, Prasad Deepak Kami from Shelke Mala, was critically injured in a knife attack carried out by a known criminal over a long-standing family dispute, police reported today. The incident occurred late Thursday night in Ichalkaranji town under Gadhinglaj taluka jurisdiction.

According to police, the accused, a man with a prior criminal record, attacked the teen with a sharp-edged weapon. The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed his condition as serious.

Gadhinglaj police arrived promptly following a tip-off from local residents. The assailant has been arrested and a case of attempted murder has been registered. Investigations are ongoing to determine if this attack was isolated or part of a broader vendetta.

The attack has raised public concern over youth violence and the circulation of weapons in the district. Residents are urging authorities to strengthen night patrols and ensure stricter law enforcement. “People should feel safe on the streets after dark,” said a local community leader.
