Shivsevak Pratishthan has urged the Maharashtra government to include the detailed history of Hindavi Swarajya (1592–1857) in school textbooks with experiential learning, forts visits and leadership-based modules.
Maharashtra | November 21,2025 : Shivsevak Pratishthan has submitted a formal proposal to the Maharashtra School Education Department, demanding the inclusion of the complete and detailed history of Hindavi Swarajya from 1592 to 1857 in the state school curriculum. The proposal was presented at Mantralaya by the organisation’s founder president, Maruti Dingbar Suravase, based on his extensive historical study.
The organisation stated that students should gain structured and comprehensive knowledge of several key areas, including fort construction and fort-engineering, judicial systems, military organisation, maritime strength, women’s safety policies, agriculture, economy and major social reforms of the Swarajya period. The proposal also highlights the contribution of major Maratha dynasties Shinde, Holkar, Bhosale and Pawar and stresses the need for experience-based teaching to understand how the Maratha empire expanded across India.

Founder Maruti Suravase, vice president Ashok Zhade, Nashik division head Abhijit Mahale and Panvel division head Suresh Jagdale were present during the submission.
The Pratishthan emphasised that history should not be confined to memorising events. Instead, it should instill national consciousness, leadership qualities and a sense of responsibility among students. They recommended fort visits, historical projects, map-reading, digital Swarajya modules, live historical presentations and outdoor learning activities to make the subject more engaging.
Suravase stated that such methods would allow students to experience history rather than merely study it.
If approved, the proposal could significantly transform the learning experience for students across Maharashtra. It would expand their understanding of Swarajya-era administration, leadership, national identity, courage, social values and overall personality development, making the history of Hindavi Swarajya a meaningful part of modern education.
