Speeding Ambulance Jumps Red Signal, Kills Couple Riding Scooter in Bengaluru
A high-speed ambulance jumped a red light in Bengaluru, crashed into motorcycles, and instantly killed a couple; two others were injured as police begin investigating.
Bengaluru, November 03, 2025: A tragic road accident in Bengaluru claimed the lives of a couple when a speeding ambulance jumped a red traffic signal near Richmond Circle late at night. The high-speed vehicle rammed into multiple two-wheelers waiting at the signal before crashing into a traffic police kiosk. The impact was so severe that the couple, identified as Ismail (40) and his wife Sameen Banu (33), who were riding a Dio scooter, died on the spot. Two other people sustained injuries in the collision.
Eyewitness footage circulating online shows the ambulance disregarding the signal, striking the waiting vehicles, and overturning shortly after the collision. Angered residents and commuters gathered at the site and reportedly overturned the ambulance in protest.
Police officials confirmed that the ambulance was not carrying any patient at the time of the incident. The driver, identified as Ashok, has been detained, and a case of rash and negligent driving has been registered. Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage to determine the exact sequence of events and whether the ambulance’s siren was misused to bypass the signal.
Authorities stated that while ambulances are granted priority on roads, drivers must still exercise caution and follow safety protocols to avoid endangering others. The incident has sparked outrage over the misuse of emergency vehicle privileges and renewed calls for stricter enforcement of traffic safety regulations.
This heartbreaking accident serves as a reminder of the need for accountability and discipline among all road users — even those behind the wheel of life-saving vehicles — to ensure that negligence does not cost innocent lives.
