Pune | 12 December 2025: The alumni reunion of students who once studied at the Jaykar Library of Savitribai Phule Pune University was celebrated with enthusiasm on the university campus. Known as the “Oxford of the East,” the event highlighted the academic culture and legacy associated with the historic Jaykar Library and its beloved “Mini Jaykar” study space.
A large number of former students, officers, entrepreneurs, lawyers and dignitaries from various social and political fields attended the gathering. The chief attraction was Balasaheb Nagve, UPSC topper and Joint Commissioner, Income Tax Department, Mumbai, who presided over the ceremony. Senior officials including Assistant Commissioner of Police Vikram Kadam, Senior Police Officer Vijay Chavan, Ministry PA Sachin Khomane, and Industry Operations Superintendent Nitin Kolekar were present along with officers from the Jaykar Mitra Parivar across Maharashtra.
Attendees recalled their emotional connection with “Mini Jaykar” or “Hanuman Jaykar,” a simple study space known for its basic furniture but strong student culture. Many shared stories of studying late into the night, overcoming financial challenges and spending four to ten years preparing for competitive exams. They also spoke about how this humble space helped produce many accomplished officers through perseverance and discipline.

Alumni from 54 academic disciplines and professionals working across sectors participated in the event. After the reunion, a guided tour of the university’s main building was arranged.
